How Does The Countertop Buying Process Work?
So, you are interested in renovating your home, but want to understand all of the nitty gritty details before you get started. Don’t worry, here’s everything you need to know about the countertop buying process.
Before you start your renovation project, it is important to understand how the countertop buying process works to ensure everything runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible. After all, we want you to have these new countertops installed as soon as possible so you can start enjoying your new kitchen or bathroom.
Step 1: Choosing Your Countertops
Tip: Our most popular countertop material at the moment are our Pompeii Quartz collection and Infinity porcelain surfaces!
To choose your countertops, come visit us at one of our five locations. UMI Stone offers four showrooms conveniently located throughout Florida, as well as a new Stone Galerie in Atlanta, GA to best serve you. A UMI Representative will also be able to assist you every step of the way, answering any questions you may have in regard to what material best suits your home and lifestyle.

Step 2: Get an Estimate/ Determine How Much Material You Need
Are you getting new countertops for your kitchen or will you be remodeling a few other rooms in the house, such as the bathroom or laundry room? In order to provide you with an estimate, your fabricator will need to determine the total square footage of your project. Typically, a simple sketch with measurements of your project area should suffice.
*This step is solely completed by the Fabricator. UMI is not responsible for the measurement of square footage needed to complete your project.
Step 3: Decide on Edge Details
With every countertop installation comes an edge detail. Various edges reflect a unique style to further emphasize your home’s design; whether you prefer an ultra-modern kitchen or a traditional looking style, there is an edge that is made for you! Based on the type of material you select, your fabricator will be able to share various edge options with you that are most common for the stone selected as well as what edge style best fits your lifestyle.
*This process is completed with your fabricator.

Step 4: Fabrication/ Installation
Great! Looks like you have decided upon a countertop and are ready for the material to be fabricated and installed. From this point forward, your preferred fabricator will make arrangements with you on next steps in order to get your new counters into your home where they can be enjoyed by yourself, friends and family!
Please note that UMI only sells and distributes the finest and most exotic stones in Florida and Georgia, with warehouses and showrooms located in Naples, Boynton Beach, Tampa, Jacksonville, and Atlanta, and thus do not handle the fabrication and installation of the counters.
